Keep Young and Beautiful

Slightly out of date but it’s a darn good song and it still motivates me…

What’s cute about little cutie?
It’s her beauty, not brain’s…
Old father time will never harm you
If your charm still remains.
After you grow old baby
You don’t have to be a cold baby…

Keep Young and Beautiful
It’s your duty to be beautiful…
Keep young and beautiful
If you want to be loved!
Don’t fail to do your stuff
With a little powder and a puff.
Keep young and beautiful
If you want to be loved.

If you’re wise, exercise all the fat off
Take it off - off of here, off of there…
When you’re seen anywhere with your hat off
Wear a Marcel wave in your hair…

Take care of all those charms
And you’ll always be in someone’s arms.
Keep young and beautiful
If you want to be loved

- Eddie Cantor (from the film Roman Scandals)

Second day of 30 day shred.

(And just a flying visit as I really must get on with things)
It was harder today because my muscles have started to ache but I guess that can only mean good things are beginning to happen. And I managed to do a lot more push-ups than yesterday so I was super pleased about that.

Today I really absolutely do need to crack on with my dissertation, drink water until I burst and make my boyfriends 21st birthday card!

A few days break.

I had a lovely weekend with Jonny. He took me out for tea one day and we made home-made pizzas another and then yesterday we went for a trip to the farm park and went to the cinema to see ‘The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel’ in the evening followed by a few drinks with Sarah and Robin. Gorgeous weather too all weekend. But I did eat far too many naughty things.

So this morning I started the 30 day shred DVD. It was hard but not so hard that it’s put me off wanting to do it again so that’s good. And I’ve got a free morning tomorrow (other than cracking on with the dissertation) so no excuses to give up. I have an aim as well for when I want to have reached my happy healthy body - I graduate on the 24th July which gives me plenty of time to get slim, trim and fit as a fiddle. I think it’s good to have set goals to aim for. Time limits are scary but if they’re manageable then they can be really good for keeping your motivation and momentum up.

I’m going to Manchester on Wednesday to visit my best friend for her birthday and I’m taking her to see the latest Matthew Bourne ballet. Super excited. I’m staying over too and we’re going to my Aunt’s house for lunch on Thursday with my brother (who also happens to live in Manchester). It’s nice to have friends that know your family too. I haven’t seen Sarah in ages either and she’s nearing the end of her first year at university so it’ll be so nice to catch up on everything.

But all this niceness means I absolutely desperately have to get on with writing my dissertation. YUCK. I’m supposed to be writing it right now but instead I’ve found myself on Tumblr. Think I might make something yummy for tea as one last distraction and then I am ON IT!

Better chug down some water too.

Today is the day!

I spent two hours cleaning the house this morning which is definitely a workout in itself - lugging the hoover up and down 2 flights of stairs, stretching over the bath to clean the tiles, I’d worked up a sweat by the end! I texted the girls after to suggest we get into a bit more a routine with our cleaning so it doesn’t take so long each time (and also so it isn’t just me doing it every time) but neither of them have replied so I’m assuming I’ve pissed them off, which is entirely unfair. It could just be laziness at not texting back but that in itself is pretty rude. Anyway, I only have to clean up after them for a few more months which is just about bearable (I wouldn’t mind so much if they made a bit of a fuss and said thank you every once in a while!)

I’m heading to uni in just over half an hour to run a couple more auditions for our drama series and then I’m finally getting my hair cut (I can barely see past my fringe anymore!) and then I’m meeting the boyf at the station as he’s coming for a weekend visit. Yay! I think my 30 day shred DVD will arrive while he’s here so I might make him do one of the workouts with me and see whose got more stamina! Ha! Ooh, also I bought some hand weights yesterday. Only 1kg (2lbs) each, but I thought I’d start slowly, don’t want to over-face myself. So yeah, should be a good one this weekend. And the sunshine is out! Think I’ll take a nice leisurely stroll into uni and soak up some vitamin D.

Hope you all have lovely plans for the weekend too?

Bad day with some good bits thrown in.

So I was supposed to get up super early and be really productive with my university work because I basically haven’t done any for like a week and I don’t have all that long to get it done before the dreaded deadline. And I was going to do a mega workout this morning but my house mate was in so I wimped. But I did go swimming this evening and swam a mile non-stop and did more front-crawl than I have in a long time. And I cycled there and back. So that was a good thing.
Watched a load of the Harry Potter special features to see if there would be any useful bits I could use for my dissertation but I just ended up watching them all for fun! Ha.
Tomorrow will be a better day because I have actual solid plans, but I also need to do more work when I get home. And I’m going to chug down water til I pop!

Change of Plan (and a Q about hand weights)

I’m going to go swimming tonight instead of NTC. It’s too daunting and last time I hurt so much the next day that it stopped me doing any exercise for like a week, so until I get to a better level of fitness, it’s kind of counter-productive. I’ll be extra good and cycle to and from the pool tonight to make up for it. And I’ve just ordered the 30 day shred DVD which looks and sounds horribly hard but will hopefully make me babish! I might pick up some hand weights in town tomorrow as I think you need them for the workouts on the DVD plus they’re always useful to have. What weight do you guys suggest I get? I’m only a beginner but I’m not a weakling. In the UK they come in kg rather than lbs. I was thinking maybe 1.5kg? What do recommend?

I keep sleeping in way too late.

Was supposed to get up at 8:30am this morning which isn’t even early but didn’t manage to drag myself out of bed til 10am and I’m still not dressed and haven’t yet had any breakfast. Bad times.
As a punishment for being so crap I’m forcing myself to go to my uni gym’s Nike Training Club tonight. I went once before last term and it practically killed me. I wish I had an iPhone so I could do the workouts myself too. Anyway, if I survive tonight I might make it a regular thing. It only runs until the end of term anyway so I might as well give it a go.
